Nightmare Of The Cursed

Meghan recoiled in shock, her heart hammering triple times, unable to process what she just heard. Her eyes widened, both terrified and horrified. Has their distaste reckoned into hatred?

Her eyes narrowed, but her mamas eyes had always been cold whenever she looked at her daughter. When their eyes met, a flash of pity schemed through her eyeballs, she couldn believe it. She wouldn !

She shaked her head roughly. ”This can be true right? ” She held her breath waiting for a response, but her father answered. ”Meghan I understand this can be tough for you to take in, but you must understand why we are doing this. ” He explained but there was no sign of pity in his voice.

Her eyes settled at her mother once more, an apology in her eyes but she was already lost in rage. Stream of tears threatened to fall off her eyes so hard, but she swallowed her emotions away and forced herself to answer as demurely as possible.

”I can presume to suggest you are not different from others ” She said.

She frowned and added. ”You betrayed me, I trusted you… I would have never believed those sweet words that fell off your mouth. I should have known those where mere sour lemons! ” Fury radiating out of her as her temper started becoming more intense.

Her father frowned. ”How dare you talk to your mother at that manner and raise your voice at her! ” He bellowed in anger, and his eyes grew cold.

”She is not my mother! ” Everyone including the entire royal family gasped in shock and stunned disbelief. Their eyes shot wide but still kept their composure.

Even Meghan was surprised at her last words, but she disguised it with a menacing gaze, rather vague in her mannerism. Her head filled with her most inspid thought.

It was now fury that boiled through the emperor, her father, but just as he was about to talk, one of his general spoke. ”Lady Meghan, you must understand why we are doing this and the gravity of what it weighs. ”

”This matter is none of your business ” She pushed the words, receiving another gasp from everyone, which includes the advisors and few generals.

The emperor slammed his fist at the arm of the throne and spoke under his gritted teeth. ”Meghan, I would not have you talk to my cabinets with that clumsiness and inappropriate manner of yours. ”

Meghan kept her face as blank as possible. ”What wrong have I done? ”

”I should remind you of your position Meghan, if you were
t lucky enough, your title would have never been in history. ” Mia, the second princess rebuked with a frown.

Meghan eyes never wavered. ”Then it is a privilege to let you know that no matter the position I am, that doesn make me an entitled slave to the objection of decisions that concerns my life. ”

”You never had a life! ” Mia said with her arm crossed. ”… and you don . ” she added and meghans hands tightened to a fist.

”If you would allow me… ” One of the generals looked at the king for permission to continue and the emperor gestured his hand as an approval. ”Am sorry princess, but you know the amount of power you wield within you, is capable of killing thousands of people. ” He stared firmly. ”And you cannot control or supress it. Our lives is at stake here! ”

”Then marrying me off to a stranger is the solution? ” She cut off and faced him with a frown.

”With all due respect, you are letting selfishness cloud your thinking. ”

”Then isn it better than allowing stupidity fall off your mouth. ”

The emperor frowned at her. His face darkened more and his eyes grew colder. ”Meghan… To your room now! ” He ordered with a raised voice so that others will hear, accompanied with a hard compact fist slammed on the arm throne.

She fidgeted her gown and gritted her teeth in anger before storming away not caring to look back.

As she left the meeting room, everyone returned to the matter with a dispirited frown and as the door closed behind them, the emperor continued.

He turned back to them, his humor restored. ”A girls virtue is always in danger, even in the forbidden city. Don let her emotion downcast you. ”

She stroded into her room and shut the door behind her. Her mind were swayed, and worse she feared they were right. The dark power under her cannot be controlled, even she, the wielder cannot handle it. She couldn even use it!

The emperor might very well attribute her actions into safe hands, but she doubted it. Especially when they all acts like she was an outcast.

”Why is this happening! Just why?! ” She screamed in despair. All this were like a black-out nightmare but now she believes her destiny was envisioned to be darkness. An illusion never to be disillusioned. Never!

All she wanted now was to cry to her bed and sleep off, never wanting to see the daylight anymore, but can that ever be possible. This was not the first time she attempted to take her very own life.

The door knocked, but she paid no attention to it. Everywhere, everything, everybody felt like a betrayer. This day she made a promise to herself, never to let her emotion be played, twice!

The door opened with a creak sound and a blonde-haired girl walked in with a bow. ”My lady I knocked but you made no response, so I feared you where in danger. ” Alina, her handmaiden said, her gaze lowered to the floor.

”How many times have I told you to drop the formalities when we are alone? ” Meghan asked, her attention on her with a displeased look.

She apologized. ”Am sorry my… I mean, Meghan. ” The word felt heavy to pronounce alone and she swallowed.

”I came to prepare your bath so if you will allow me– ”

”Danger is an understatement to how am feeling. ” She replied to her last comment. Her eyes faced her. ”To people, they feel to be a princess is worth it, but I feel to be a princess is the beginning of becoming a prisoner in their own realm. ” She explained downcast.

Alina looked at her. She pitied her but couldn do anything. ”Don give me that look. It makes me cringe. ” Meghan said.

”Forgive me, but you should understand that your father is the emperor and also a legal advisor to the dragon throne of the forbidden city. His wisdom cannot be overthrown. ”

Meghan ignored her, instead her face gave out an expressionless aura.

”He works very hard and he is extremely loyal ”

At her word, Meghan scoffed. ”You say loyal, judging from his reign for the past twenty decades is what you refer to as loyalty? ”

As expected, Alinas faced turned sour. ”But you must understand something, to be foolish is different from to be selfish and that, he embraces so much. ”

Her expression then turned wary. ”He treats me nonetheless like an forbidden fruit, an outcast and a garbage and he does this as a tantamount to increase his power. ” The sorrow in her tone was real, and she made an attempt to continue.

”I know am different, not a mortal or a vampire, but am not a demon slayer! ”

”But your powers are, and the most fearful you cannot control it, it remains a fact. ” Alina said, and Meghan mouth went dry, her spirit squirming in torment and then she sobbed.

Alina rushed towards her and evoked her in a comforting hug.

Ever since she was young, Alina had always been her childhood friend and a sister. She never referred her as her maid and growing up has always been a struggle. A prisoner in her home, more like a caged bird, not allowed to set foot at the outside surface, never seen the outside world and what it looked like, all because of a single reason that had a terrible effect on her. She was cursed, she knew it but she had a destiny, she doubted it.
